the Day Coat

I'm on a 'simplicity' kick. Trying to simplify things around here. It started with the Montreal and continues with my latest pattern. The Day Coat is very simple, 3 pieces sewn together and a collar, no shaping.. fat yarn and big needles (of course, so not only simple but quick!)

I was lucky enough to receive more Cadena l from Illimani Yarn, the Canadian yarn company based in Montreal. This alpaca/merino blend is such a pleasure to work with and the drape is amazing, just what you need for these oversized pieces.

The Day Coat uses approximately 539yds/492m (11 skeins) of Cadena l and US #19 (16mm) I would rate this as an easy pattern, good for an advanced beginner on up. It's a one size pattern but using the schematic and the notations included is easy to adjust if needed.

Available as a PDF download. $6.50

  1. I have bought this pattern and would actually like to make it using Rowan Cocoon which is bulky, not super bulky. Have you done this pattern in just bulky yarn?

    1. Hi Christy, I have not made it with a bulky but that should be a simple adjustment. If you work up a gauge swatch using Rowan Cocoon and find out your gauge it's simple math using the numbers from the schematic. Since there isn't any shaping with this piece it should be pretty cut and dry. If you need further help feel free to email me: info@knit1la.com
      Hope this helps! :)
